Map how a topic is being discussed
💡 Map the narratives around a topic: the messages, the assets spreading them, and the manipulation tactics in play.
Narrative framing is the starting point for most analysis. Begin broad to see the overall patterns around a topic, then zoom in on how specific claims are framed: the word choice, what is emphasised, and the context in which messages appear. Ask Ember works like a mirror, so the more concrete your question, the sharper the reflection.
When to use this
When you want the full picture of how a topic, institution, or policy is being portrayed, together with the manipulation tactics behind each narrative. It is a strong first move before an incident becomes an alert, to establish what the baseline discourse looks like.
Before you start
Ask Ember. Vantage's AI analyst for rapid, evidence-backed narrative analysis. Ask a question in plain language and receive a structured report, built from roughly 500 of the most relevant publications, in about 30 seconds. Every report cites its sources and includes visualisations by platform, language, and asset type, downloadable as a PDF.
Asset. Any account, channel, or outlet Vantage tracks.
Known Asset. An asset with a documented behavioral track record of amplifying FIMI, with an Evidence Score of Possible, Probable, or Confirmed. Isolate Known Assets to see who is pushing a narrative deliberately.
Reference Asset. An Asset whose identity and operator the client already knows, either because they own it or because they treat it as a known reference point, held outside the classification pipeline so it can serve as a fixed measurement anchor in the Information Landscape.
The walkthrough
- Set your starting filters
Begin wide, so the overall patterns are visible. Set the time range to the past two weeks, with all platforms, all assets, and all languages selected.

- Ask a broad question
Anchor it to a concrete topic, event, or name, and keep it to about ten words. This surfaces the overall patterns before you narrow.
Example question: How is EU military support to Ukraine being portrayed?

- Read the report
In about 30 seconds, you receive the main narratives, the messages and manipulation tactics behind each, the key assets spreading them, and reach by platform and language, with citations to the underlying posts.

- Zoom in on specific framing
Once the main patterns are clear, work iteratively: take one specific claim at a time and ask how it is framed. Run each question separately to keep the results sharp, then move on to the next.
Example question (run first): What negative labels are used to describe EU arms deliveries to Ukraine? Example question (run next): In what situations is the claim promoted that sanctions are hurting European economies?
- Repeat with Known Assets
Run the same questions again with the asset filter set to Known Assets, to isolate deliberate manipulation and see who is pushing each narrative on purpose. Reading the same topic against Reference Assets shows how the framing differs from a credible baseline.

- Share feedback at any point
